Seeing red with Orange

A few days ago I posted that I was not able to publish content due to WordPress servers being unavailable now I am having similar difficulties due to my broadband provider Orange and its so-called service upgrades.

At the beginning of the month I received an Email from them advising that they would be carrying out work to that end and in passing that it would not impact me as taking place between midnight and six am – they could not know of course that I am a night-owl and this is often my most productive time! – but carrying out works at that time I understand – inconveniencing the least number of people.  Then they advised I could expect some interuptions of service for the next ten or so days before going green with quicker and more robust broadband service in place.

Would that it were so.  It is now weeks later and my connection will just stop out of the blue – it is particularly vexing as you must know if you too are a producer not just consumer of content  and you have the sinking feeling that a post you have been typing up may not have been fully saved to the server and just how much content have you lost.  This incidentally is my reservation with cloud computing – that my content may become lost in space.

Then there is the frequency – I can accept occasional internet black-outs – but currently I am experiencing them several times an hour – nor when I am connected am I experiencing any faster white knuckle speeds.

Deep breath, mellow yellow!

FTV on YouTube

In a post of a few days back I lamented in passing the removal of Fashion TV from Sky Television.

Whilst browsing the Web for Fashion TV I came across links to YouTube and much to my delight they have a YouTube Channel. I can also subscribe to to be updated of any new content.  And thanks to the delights of Apple TV I can also watch the content on my Telly box not just on my Macs beautiful though they are.

To early to say whether a replacement for the TV channel itself – my broadband is with Orange and promises speeds up to 20 Megs but my internet connection is not without its time-outs and is far short of the robustness of a television broadcast but potentially a splendid alternative none the less and yet another installment in tv and the web converging into one.
